Plagiarism

1. If you use (copy, cut & paste) someone else's ideas, thoughts or words without giving that person PROPER CREDIT, you are guilty of PLAGIARISM. Sounds simple, right? But is it?

2. Unsure about Paraphrasing? Follow the University of Wisconsin's guidelines.

3. Check out the Mohonasen's plagiarism policy.

4. Humanities classes (English Language Arts and social studies) use MLA style for citation. Most science, math, and technology classes use the APA format. Check with your teacher to see what is required. Get quick and easy examples at MLA Citation Style and APA Citation Style; or click on Citation Machine.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

1. We are open Monday to Friday, 7:35 AM (sometimes earlier) to 2:50 PM

2. You ALWAYS need a pass for the library (from your study hall or classroom teacher). If you're coming from lunch, get a pre-signed pass from Ms. O'Keeffe or Mrs. Shaw.

3. GOING BACK TO STUDY HALL? Don't just walk out! We need to sign your pass

4. Sign-in at the circulation desk (RED clipboard), first AND last names (so we can read it!)

5. You may sign up to use computers in the library, but remember: Scheduled classes get priority (sorry!)

6. You can borrow up to 4 items (no Reference), for 3 weeks

7. OVERDUES: You can renew all books, so don't be late! If your library materials are overdue, we can't give you any new materials; if your materials are three weeks overdue, you will lose library privileges. You will also lose classroom field trip privileges!

8. Need a book from another school? Fill out a request form at the circulation desk--we can get it through ILL (Interlibrary Loan)

9. PRINTING: Please ASK FIRST! We need to save paper, so absolutely NO CLASS COPIES

10. We have a photocopy machine--10¢ a copy (for everyone, even the librarian!)

11. This is YOUR library ... Please be respectful to others and to library property. No food or drink. Music devices are allowed, but NO CELL PHONES.

12. Any questions? Ask Ms. O'Keeffe or Mrs. Shaw (we're here to help!)
